used for pretty much every infection including Staph, Strep, Neisseria, Actinomyces, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium, Treponema, and Corynebacterium.

Cell wall inhibitor, natural penicillin

Mechanism of action
A
Inhibits bacterial wall synthesis by binding PBPs.

Adverse effects
A
Rash, pruritus (severe itching of the skin), diarrhea, nausea, and fever

Contraindications/precautions
A
Allergic to penicillin or any drug in the penicillin class.

Drug interactions
A
Don’t take with oral contraceptives, colestipol, probenecid, potassium-sparing diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotcs, and tetracyclines
