Therapeutic effects and uses
Used to prevent chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting and is started 30 minutes before chemotherapy.
Mechanism of action
Blocks serotonin receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, an area of the brain responsible for nausea and vomiting

widely distributed; secreted in breast milk; over 70% bound to plasma proteins

Adverse effects
Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and constipation or diarrhea
Contraindications/precautions
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity
precautions: Cardiac abnormalities (It can cause dysrhythmias)
Drug interactions
Inhibitors or inducers of the CYP450 enzyme can affect availability of ondansetron
