Q

What is posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD)?

A
  • uncontrolled proliferation of B cell lymphocytes latently infected with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). In immunocompetent patients, Epstein-Barr virus can cause infectious mononucleosis in adolescents, which is otherwise asymptomatic in children during their childhood. However, in immunosuppressed transplant patients, the lack of T-cell immunosurveillance can lead to the proliferation of these EBV-infected B-lymphocytes.

7
Q

Why is MSI correlated to response to immunotherapy

A

When you have mutated genes, you have more mutated antigens promoting an immune response

Q

Concept of tumor mutational burden

A

quantifies mutational burden, higher burden suggests better response to immunotherapy

Q

Concept of “tumor agnostic” therapies

A

Tumour-agnostic therapies target specific genomic anomalies or molecular features regardless of tumour site of origin.

Q

what does leukemoid reaction mean?

A

General term for a WBC greater than >50,000/microL from causes other than leukemia, with majority of cells being mature neutrophils, often accompanied by increased numbers of bands, metamyelocytes, and/or myelocytes. Not specific physiologic reaction, just terminology.

Q

RFI means

A

recurrence free interval

17
Q

what is an implant

A

A nodule of a malignant tumor that develops at a site in a body cavity at a distance from the initial site of cancer

18
Q

how much iron is in 1 unit of PRBC’s?

A

200-250 mg

19
Q

What is leukoerythroblastosis? Cause?

A
  • presence of nucleated red cells and immature white cells in peripheral blood
  • marrow replacement, usually due to fibrosis that may be idiopathic (eg, primary myelofibrosis) or reactive to conditions such as metastatic cancer.
20
Q

Checkpoint inhibitor toxicities for which you would never rechallenge

A

1) encephalitis
2) demyelinating neuropathy
3) cardiotoxicity

21
Q

What is an abnormal size for a lymph node?

A

> 1 cm in diameter

22
Q

How do solid tumor brains met typically appear on MRI

A

round subcortical lesions

23
Q

Physiology explaining why response to IO persists

A

Animal models have shown that ICI administration leads to expansion of tumor-specific T cells which persist long after the ICI has been stopped

24
Q

What research modality determines if dose reduction is needed for organ dysfunction?

A

PK studies
