Clinical features
A
fever + maculopapular rash + early post transplant period 1-2 weeks after auto HCT (more rarely after allo’s)

Other clinical features
A
variable presence of dyspnea + weight gain + diarrhea + altered mental status. pulmonary manifestations (bilateral ground-glass opacification, hilar or peribronchial consolidation, and thickening of interlobular septa, pleural effusions)

Pathophysiology
A
- neutrophil recovery causes release of proinflammatory cytokines
