Graphesthesia –
– presses the 2 points of an opened paper clip lightly to the skin from farther distance to closer distance.
One-and-two-point discrimination
simultaneously touches both sides of the body at the same point (to identify the number of stimuli and the location).
Extinction –
demonstrates to client the following activities and asks him/her to do the same
Coordination-
abducts and extends arm at shoulder level and rapidly touches the nose alternately with each finger of one hand using the index finger of the other hand
Finger-to nose test –
Pats both knees with the palms of both hands and then with the back of the hands alternately at an even increasing rate
Alternating supination and pronation of hands-on knees.
touches each finger of one hand to the thumb of the same hand as fast as possible.
Fingers to thumb-
asks client to walk across the room and back and assess the clients’ gait
Walking gait-
asks client to stand with feet together and arms resting at the sides first with eyes open then closed.
Romberg test –
asks client to walk on a straight line placing the heel of one foot directly in front of the toes of the other foot.
Heel-toe walking –
Flexes the client’s arm at the elbow with palms down.
Places thumb firmly on the client’s biceps muscle.
Strikes with the reflex hammer.
Biceps Reflex-
Flexes the client’s arm at the elbow with the client’s palm facing the body.
Positions the arm across the client’s chest
Strikes the triceps tendon above the elbow.
Triceps Reflex-
Places the client in a sitting position with the feet off the floor.
Briskly taps the patellar tendon just below the patella.
Patellar/knee reflex-
Strikes the lateral aspect of the sole of the foot with the pointed end of the reflex hammer from the heel to the ball of the foot.
