  • surface epithelial tumors
  • -serous tumor (most frequent epithelial tumor)
  • mucinous tumor (mucin secreting)
  • pseudomyxoma peritoneal (assoc with mucinous ovarian tumors; ovarian tumor with extensive mucinous ascites, implants on peritoneal surfaces and adhesions causing bowel obstruction and death)?

A

teratoma

  • mature (benign)
  • -more common right
  • -rarely exceed 10 cm
  • -ectodermal differentiation
  • imature (malignant)
  • -hair, cartilage, bone
  • monodermal or specialized
  • -struma ovarii, entirely composed of mature thyroid tissue
  • -carcinoid, must be differentiated from metastatic disease
