Q

Where does tissue fluid leave the blood at?

A

= parts of the capillary near the artery
= transfers molecules: oxygen and glucose to tissue cells
= waste molecules from the tissue cells pass into the tissue fluid, returns back into the blood stream at the capillary near the vein

Q

How is tissue fluid formed/moves in and out of the blood?

A

= tissue fluid is forced out of the blood at the arterial end of the capillary
= returns back to the blood in the veniual end

Q

What happens at the arterial end of the capillary?

A

= blood at arterial end of the capillary is under relativlry high pressure still- hydrostatic pressure
= forces fluid out of the blood and into the tissue
= plasma proteins are hydrophilic (interacts with water), lower the water potential of blood plasma- tendency for water to move back into the blood by osmosis - oncotic pressure
