cardiac cycle graphs- pressure side Flashcards
What happens at the start of the graph?
= left atrium goes under systole- contracting- pressure increases
= artrioventricular valve opens so blood passs into left ventricle- pressure increases
= left ventricle contracts systole- pressure in ventricle increases
= pressure of left ventricle is greate than left atrium atrioventrciular valve shuts
What happens when the aorta and left ventricle line crosses?
= pressure in left ventricle is greater than the pressure in the aorta- semi-lunar valves opens
[= blood passes from left ventricle into the aorta
= pressure in left ventricle falls- lower than the aorta, so the semi-lunar valves closes- prevents backflow of blood
What is the atrium doing during this time?
= dystole- muscles are relaxing, refilling with blood.
What happens when left ventricle begins to relax?
= pressure in ventricle falls
= lower than the atrium- so atrioventrciular valves open and goes into left ventricle
