ELIZA TESTS Flashcards
1
Q
What are eliza tests based on?
A
= complementary and specific binding of an antigen to the antigen binding receptor of the antibodies
= ANTIGEN-ANTIBODY complex
= ability to produce monoclonal antibodies
2
Q
How does the eliza test work? (1)
A
= antigens are bounded to a test plate
= serum (blood, plasma) is added containing many antibodies
= wash off the excess antibodies
3
Q
How does the eliza test work? (2)
A
= second enzyme linked antibodies are added
= binds to the primary antibody
= rinsed to remove unbound antibodies
4
Q
How does the eliza test work? (3)
A
= substrate added
= causes colour change when substrate into product
= determines for positive and negative results
