3. What is the route of infection by Leishmania?
By the bite of sandfly
- animal reservoir!
I. Leishmania
4. What is pathomechanism of Leishmania
- promastigotes enter during sandfly bite
- turn into amastigote form, infect RES cells
- proliferate intracellulary, kill infected cells
- amastigotes reenter sandfly during bite
