ch 19 pt 1 anatomy Flashcards
What does O2 and CO2 do in the blood.
Delivery of O2 nutrients and removal of CO2 wastes
What is perfusion?
Delivery of blood per time per gram of tissue
What is adequate perfusion?
Sufficient delivery to maintain cells health
What is atrioventricular valves?
Between atria + ventricles
The right side of the heart receives
Deoxygenated blood and pumps it to lungs
The left side of the heart receives
Oxygenated blood and pumps it to body
What does the atria do?
Receives blood and send it to ventricles
What does ventricles do?
Pump blood away
What are the great vessels?
Pulmonary trunk, aorta, superior and inferior vena cava, and pulmonary veins
What do the great vessels do?
Transport blood to and from hearts chambers
What is pulmonary circulation?
Deoxygenated blood from right side of heart to lungs
What is systemic circulation?
Oxygenated blood from left side of heart to systemic cells
What is mediastinum?
Between lungs
