What is leukopenia?
Reduced number of leukocytes - increase infection
What is leukocytosis?
Elevated leukocyte count - recent infection
What is differential count?
Measures amount of each type of leukocyte and whether any are immature
What is neutrophilia?
Increase in neutrophils
What is left-shifted differential?
Immature neutrophils enter circulation
What is neutropenia?
Decreased neutrophil count - occurs with medication
Increase in lymphocytes caused by
Viral infection
Decreases in lymphocytes count occur with
HIV
