ch 18 pt 3 anatomy Flashcards
What is albumins?
Smallest and most abundant group of plasma proteins; greatest colloid osmotic pressure
What is globulins?
Second largest group of plasma proteins
What is gamma-globulins?
Antibodies
What is fibrinogen?
Contributes to blood clot formation
What is serum?
Is plasma with clotting proteins removed
What is hemopoiesis?
Production of formed elements; red bone marrow
What is regulatory proteins?
Includes enzymes and hormones
What is hemoglobin?
Protein that carries oxygen
What is hemocytoblasts?
Stem cells
What is pluripotent?
Can differentiate into many types of cells
What is myeloid line?
Big line, forms erythrocytes, all leukocytes except lymphocytes
What is lymphoid line?
Small line, forms only lymphocytes
Colony-stimulating factors (CSF)
Stimulate hemopoiesis - tells cells what to make
What is erythropoiesis?
Red blood cell production
What is needed for erythropoiesis?
Requires ion, B vitamins, amino acids
