Q

Which diuretics create acidosis?

A

Q

Which diuretics create alkalosis?

A

Loop and thiazides

1- because dec volume activates angio II which inc Na-H exchange in proximal tubule –> more bicarb reabsorbed

2- K+ loss leads to K leaving cells and H going into cells

3- in low K state H+ leaves at collecting ducts in place of K+
