A
Hyperextension
*sprain of the 1st MTP joint (plantar surface)

What is the patient presentation?
A
- Swelling,
- Pain
- Decreased (active) ROM (passive is intact)
- Altered gait

What are the tests to order?
A
- X-rays
- MRI

What is the treatment?
A
- RICE
- Stiff/rigid shoes
- Partial weight bearing or immobilized
- No sports until pain-free (up to 6 weeks)
