What are the clinical features of Adult Still Disease?
A
- Systemic form of juvenile chronic arthritis
- High spiking fevers more prominent than arthritis
- Nonpruritic rash (with fevers typically)
- May have lymphadenopathy and pericardial effusions
- Sore throat is common

What temperature is associated with Adult Still Disease?
A
40 C or 104 F
*there will be daily spikes of that temp, with sweats and chills
*temperature will plunge w/out medication

What demographic has the highest risk of Adult Still Disease?
A
Adults in 20s to 30s
*rare after age 60

What color is the rash that is associated with Adult Still Disease?
A
Salmon colored/ pink migratory rash, transient
+/- Koebner phenomenon (the appearance of new skin lesions on previously unaffected skin secondary to trauma)

What is present with Adult Still Disease?
A
- Daily arthritis;
*joint symptoms often develop months later if they do at all - Anemia, leukocytosis (high WBC) is usually present
3.Elevated serum ferritin (iron levels can be higher)

What is the the treatment for Adult Still Disease?
A
- High dose ASA/ NSAIDs (half of the patients respond to this) the rest on prednisone
- Use, TNF (tumor necrosis factor) inhibitors if refractory to ASA/ NSAIDs or anakinra
*TNF will help stop inflammation
