What is the MOI?

A
  1. Occurs after a fall within direct blow to point of elbow
    *fracture often displaced

What will patient not be able to do with an olecranon fracture?

A
  1. Loss of active elbow extension
    *maybe ulnar nerve dysfunction

What is the treatment if it is non displaced?

A
  1. Reduction/Splint
    *long arm posterior splint
    *elbow flexed at 90 degrees maximum (45-90 degrees depending on amount of concern)
  2. Sling
  3. Ortho
    *f/u after 2 days if neurovascularly intact
