What is the MOI?
A
- Due to violent injury
*forces hip into extension, abduction, and external rotation

How does the patient present?
A
- Patient lies with hip in extension, abduction and external rotation

What is on the radiographic findings?
A
- Femoral head is inferior to the acetabulum in the region of the obturator foramen
- Oblique views reveal fracture is anterior

Q
What is the treatment for both anterior and posterior hip dislocations?
A
- All emergencies and need to be reduced ASAP
- Repeat X rays post reduction for monitoring
*bony fragments must be removed - After reduction use crutches WBAT (Weight bearing as tolerated) until pain free (2-4 weeks) then cane until limp free
