What is cervical spondylosis
A
- Arthritis of the cervical spine
*discs/bony structures - Neural foramina narrowing and cervical spinal stenosis are common

What are the symptoms?
A
- Decreased ROM
- Chronic pain
- Paraspinous msucle spasm
- Irritability, fatigue, sleep disturbances
- Radicular symptoms

Q
What will be on the PE?
A
- Tenderness (c-spine, and para spinal)
- Decreased ROM
- Sensory and motor function C5-T1, L1-S1 (Assess them)
- Bowel/bladder function (assess them)
- Hoffmanns reflex

What is hoffmanns reflex
A
- Rapidly flexion or flick the DIP of middle finger
- Thumb will flex and adduct
*if there is an abnormal reflex the patient may have damaged pyramidal tracts in the brain

What are the tests to ordeR?
A
X rays
*osteophytes, subluxation
MRI/CT
*compression of spinal cord or neural foramina narrowing with compression of nerves

What is the treatment?
A
- Supportive
- NSAIDS
- PT
- Doxepin, Amitriptyline
- Surgical decompression if intractable/intolerable
