What are the symptoms?

A
  1. Pain and soreness (posteriorly)
  2. Arm at side

What will be shown during the physical exam?

A
  1. Trauma to skin
  2. Swelling
  3. Bruising
  4. Tenderness
  5. Decreased motion and muscle strength with shoulder testing secondary to pain

What are some diagnostic tests to due?

A
  1. Radiographs
    *transcapular view
  2. CT if fracture is not clear or if glenoid is involved

What is the treatment?

A
  1. Non surgical in almost al cases
  2. Sling
  3. No heavy lifting
  4. Gentle ROM within one week
    **may need admission if the scapular body fracture causes a pulmonary contusion

  2. Fracture involving glenoid
