1. Due to traction/pulling on the elbow
   *radial head subluxation in young children
   *radiocapitellar joint is partial separated due to the traction also the ligaments are not fully formed

What are the signs and symptoms

1. Pain and lack of use
2. Arm is held still at side and the child wont use it

What is the prevention?

Answer 3

1. Lift under arms
2. Do not swing a child by holding their hands or arms
3. Avoid tugging or pulling on a child’s hands or arms

What is the treatment?

Answer 4

1. Reduction
   *wrist/forearm in supination/palm up
   *apply pressure near radial head with thumb and slowly flex elbow
   *a faint pop or click may be felt/heard
