what is social policy
-package of plans and actions adopted by government to try solve problems in society or achieve particular goals
what is the difference between ‘social problem’ and ‘sociological problem’?
-a social problem= something seen as being harmful to society and needs addressing e.g high crime rates
-sociological problem = theortical issues that needs explaining

-sociologists try to find out whats going wrong in society
-they uncover issues
-they use evidence to put pressure on gov to make change
-e.g foodbanks not working to aid low income families

-dispropiationate use of stop and search for black males
