what is deterrence?
A
-discourage from re offending or deter other people from offending in the future

what is incapacitation/ incarceration
A
-protect society from dangerous people and prevent through imprisonment or in some countries execution

what is rehabilitation
A
-heal criminals so that they don’t need to commit crime again in the future

what is retribution?
A
-punish them simply bc they deserve to be punished for their crimes(makes offenders get their just deserts)
