league tables impact and aims?

A

-exam results published so parents make informed choice about schools
impact of league tables?
-attract high achieveing middle class to secure rank
-GILBORN= focus more on the borderline kids in order to do this
-BARLETT= schools do ‘cream skinning’ where they select most able students in first place and ‘slit shift’ those with learning disability.

-HOWEVER, good schools get better facilties creating polarisation and worse schools got worse and shut down.
