COALITION POLICIES CONSERVATIVE-LIBERAL DEMO 2010-2015
raising standards/marketisaton/parental choice/ meeting needs of global economy
-reforms to national curriculum aim and impact
-AIM= though qualifications were too easy and not good enough to compete in economy
n/c changed to make it more traditional e.g 5yr olds doing fractions
-IMPACT= too ethnocentric, less gender neutral, content taught less relevant to young ppl for work

-AIM= toughend and remoed coursework
-remove modular assesents
-reduce vocational courses
-IMPACT= decrease number of pupils doing ALEVELS
-reduction had negative effect on this disadvantaged

-A= replace underperforming secondary schools in low income areas
-I=department of ED claimed improved GCSE results but academies and non acadmies in disadvatged areas showed no significant differences.

-introduction of free schools
-A= increase diversity and parental choice, competiton to improve standards, response to what locals want, didnt follow the N/c
-I= choose what school they want
-no evidence its improved- inspection still provides some results similar to normal schools
-compete with good schools in local area that meet the needs so they are disadvanted and lack funding.

A= additonal money to schools for every pupil getting FSM
money meant to fund additonal resources
I=not helpful as schools had other funding cut, so they used money to make up difference rather then giving extra to poor pupils

A=given to reception to year 2
16-18 year olds become eligible families with low income
I=criticised for not going far enough e.g during holidays

however, increase in HE fees
-A= coalition trebled fees to £9,000 a year
-I=FEAR OF DEBT callendar and jackson amongst low income pupils
-decrease in applicaitons since this was introduced
