alas! oh dear!
where?
ποῦ;
Hegestratos and Sdenothemis do not wait around but run away.
For the men throw themselves into the sea, and look for the lifeboat.
The sailors clearly see their flight from the ship, and the captain unties the lifeboat.
The lifeboat drifts away from the ship.
SDEN. Oh dear! Where is the life-boat? Where is it, Hegestratos?
ΖΗΝ. (thrashing around in the waves) οἴμοι, ποῦ ὁ λέμβος; ποῦ ἐστιν, ὦ Ἠγέστρατε;
HEG. I can’t see the the life-boat, Sdenothemis — oh dear!
ΗΓ.
SDEN. We are dying, Hegestratos. Help, sailors, help!
ΖΗΝ.
SDEN. I am dying —
ΗΓ.
DIK. Do you see those men, captain?
ΔΙΚ. ἆρα τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ὁρᾷς σύ, ὦ κυβερνῆτα;
The men are dying.
For the lifeboat is clearly drifting away from the ship.
CAPTAIN Don’t worry! For the fellows are bad, Dikaiopolis, and they are dying badly.
ΚΥΒ.
