No member shall wear any articles of clothing bearing the JSO badge or insignia or with the
words “Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office,” “Police” or lettering, designs or words identifying the
individual as a member of the JSO without prior authority of the member’s ____________________ or higher authority.

- All members shall comply with the provisions of the City of Jacksonville (COJ) Ordinance Code, Florida. Specifically, with regards to badges, logos, insignia, images and the like used by the COJ or JSO, members are prohibited from exhibiting, selling, transferring, copying, altering or any other use not covered under these orders, unless authorized by the Sheriff or designee, in writing. The ordinances that apply to these prohibited activities are Chapter 601 – Offenses Against Operation of Government, Part 1, Sec. 601.105, Sec. 601.106; Part 2, Sec. 601.202 and any future revisions, derivations or related ordinances when codified.
Who chairs the Uniform Committee?
- The Uniform Committee, chaired by the Director of Police Services, establishes policies
related to the uniforms of JSO in accordance with Order 503 (Boards and Committees).
Colored polo shirts shall be issued by the Supply Unit to members working in specific assignments (i.e., ___________for Training Academy members, _____________________ for Central Records Section members, __________________for Communications Section members, ___________for Communications Section training officers, etc.). All issued polo shirts shall reflect the officer’s rank as either officer (silver badge and name) or supervisor (gold badge and name). In an effort to have uniformity throughout the agency, what is the approval process?
(4) In an effort to have uniformity throughout the agency, all requests for unit-specific
polo shirts, t-shirts, jackets, hats, challenge coins, and patches must be approved in accordance with the following steps:
(a) Department Director review – All designs must be approved by the respective department director. Members desiring to submit a design for approval shall send a Form P-0004e (Intradepartmental Correspondence) with the proposed design attached through their chain of command to their respective department
director.
(b) Public Relations Executive review – Upon Department Director approval, the request shall be forwarded to the Public Relations Executive for preparation for submission to the Uniform Committee.
(c) Uniform Committee review – The design shall be reviewed by the Uniform Committee. The respective chain of command shall be notified by a
representative from the Uniform Committee upon design approval/disapproval.

insignia, radios, etc., must be returned to the Supply Unit upon termination, resignation,
or retirement, unless authorized by the Director of Police Services. Computer equipment
shall be returned to Information Systems Management (ISM). Certain items may be
retained upon approval.

D. Uniform Wearing Regulations
1. General uniform wearing regulations are as follows:
