B. Under the following circumstances officers shall contact their supervisor, who shall arrive at the
scene, and request notification of the Narcotics Overdose Death Investigations Unit:
At the scene of unnatural deaths that appear to be narcotics overdose related, the on-call
Narcotics Overdose Death Investigations Supervisor shall be notified by the on-scene
supervisor via the Investigative PECO. Prior to requesting a call-out, on scene supervisors
shall verify one or more of the following factors indicating an overdose exists:
a. Presence of ________________
b. Recent (within __________ months) history of drug arrests of either the victim or ______________.
c. Recent JFRD ______________________.

- At the scene of unnatural deaths that appear to be narcotics overdose related, the on-call
Narcotics Overdose Death Investigations Supervisor shall be notified by the on-scene
supervisor via the Investigative PECO. Prior to requesting a call-out, on scene supervisors
shall verify one or more of the following factors indicating an overdose exists:
a. Presence of narcotics or narcotics paraphernalia;
b. Recent (within six months) history of drug arrests of either the victim or others at the
same location;
c. Recent JFRD response to the address for overdose calls for service; and/or
d. Witness or next of kin advising the victim recently purchased or consumed narcotics.
Officers encountering persons experiencing an overdose emergency shall take appropriate
action in accordance with Order 213 (Mentally Ill and Intoxicated Subjects) and Order 303
(Emergency Opioid Antagonist Treatment). In addition, officers shall do what?
