- The drug-testing room located inside the Property & Evidence Facility intake area shall be
utilized when conducting a test on a controlled substance in powder form. Any employee
wishing to deviate from this procedure and test a powder in the field must obtain specific
approval from a supervisor. This approval shall be noted in the Incident Report or Arrest &
Booking Report.
Is it required to have a second or safety officer present at the time of field testing drugs?
- A safety officer shall be present during each preliminary testing of a controlled substance.
a. Away from the drug-testing room, a second officer shall be present at a safe distance to
monitor the preliminary test of a controlled substance.
b. At the drug-testing room, the safety officer shall be the on-duty staff at the Property & Evidence Facility.
If field testing is done what two items must be notated in the report?
