What is the MOA of aminocaproic acid? (2)
A
- stops the normal process of fibrin breakdown that usually occurs when a clot has served its use
- preserves a clot, or stabilizes one

A
- most useful for preventing recurring bleeding
- not used to manage severe ongoing bleeding (used in dental surgeries for at-risk clients)

- given orally or IV

What is the relationship b/w aminocaproic acid and alteplase
A
- you can give aminocaproic acid to treat severe bleeding caused by alteplase (tPA)
but it is not all that effective
