TISSUE PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATORS Flashcards
1
Q
Drug class
A
thrombolytics
2
Q
How does it work? (4)
A
- dissolves blood by activating plasminogen
- this forms plasmin
- plasmin is an enzyme which is capable of breaking cross links between fibrin molecules
- fibrin molecules are responsible for providing the structural integrity of the clot

- diabetics
- convulsions
- hypersensitivity
- gentamicin - blood glucose
- hyper/hypo - liver

Q
Interactions (3)
A
- fibrinogen alpha chain
- a protein in humans that encodes fibrinogen
2. LRP1 - key in signalling of proteins
3. SERPIN1 - involved in protease inactivity
7
Q

A
- hepatic metabolism
