What is the procedure for cleaning the SCBA?(list10)

A

while using universal protection
1-Remove SCBA from service
2-Using quick connect remove regulator and face-piece
3-Remove air cylinder
4-Install plastic cap onto air cylinder threads and wash cylinder with clean soapy water
5-Rinse with clean water
6-Dry with clean cloth
7-Wipe down pack harness straps, frame, air-lines and pressure reducers with soapy water(ensure no water enters air line to bottle connection)
8-Rinse with clean water
9-Wipe down complete SCBA assembly with clean dry cloth
10-Check SCBA for any damages as per “Cylinder Fill Checklist”

Procedure for cleaning mask mounted regulator (list9)

A
  • Remove regulator from the face-piece (mask).
  • Remove any obvious dirt from the external surfaces with warm soapy water and thoroughly rinse in clean water.
  • Inspect the inner surface of regulator assembly through regulator opening (if damaged or excess dirt/soiling, remove from service-tag-send to maintenance).
  • Depress donning/air saver switch, close purge knob by turning clockwise.
  • Disinfect/sanitize the regulator by spraying minimum six (6) full pumps of disinfectant (supplied product only) into regulator opening.
  • Turn regulator face down and shake excess liquid out (allow for ten (10) minutes of contact time before rinsing).
  • Rinse regulator with gently running tap water.
  • Shake excess water out of regulator.
  • Completely dry regulator before using.

Procedure for performing a regulator check(list7)

A
  • Make sure no moisture remains in air cylinder by opening valve and allowing air to escape for two to three seconds.
  • Install cylinder onto clean SCBA.
  • Install regulator at quick connect (make sure connection is dry).
  • Verify that the donning/air saver switch fully depressed.
  • Close the purge knob.
  • Slowly open cylinder at least one full turn.
  • Open purge valve and observe the air flow from the regulator. Droplets of water indicate regulator is not dry. Dry the regulator according to steps 8-9 of cleaning mask mounted regulator and repeat Regulator check.

The procedure for cleaning the Scott Face piece. (list7)

A
  • With the face mask removed from SCBA, carefully wash the face piece assembly with warm soap and water and rinse thoroughly with clean water.• Disinfect/sanitize the face piece by spraying three (3) full pumps of properly diluted disinfectant on the regulator side of the mask and three (3) full pumps on the face side of the mask. Wet entire surface, including all rubber and plastic areas. Allow ten (10) minutes contact time before rinsing.
  • Rinse with clean drinking water.
  • Shake excess water off of face piece and dry with clean soft cloth.
  • Drying time can by accelerated by using blow dryer (high fan, no heat; never use paper towel as some can be abrasive). Completely inspect all parts of the face piece before putting back in service.
  • Reinstall face piece on serviced SCBA and complete daily operational checks.
  • Return to service.
