What are the search and rescue priorities?(list 9)

A

1- The IC shall ensure Search and Rescue is carried out with the areas posing the greatest threat to life being the priority.

2- Other areas to be searched in the following priority may include:

a) suite of origin
b) fire floor hallway
c) adjacent suites to the suite of origin
d) the suite(s) immediately above the suite of origin
e) the remainder of the suites on the fire floor
f) all stairwells in their entirety
g) the floor immediately below the fire floor
h) other affected areas of the building

Note: the priority of the areas searched may be adapted due to exposure to smoke and fire.

First Alarm responsibilities at a High Rise Fire (list 8)

A
  • determine the incident location and particulars by speaking with on-duty building employees and by referring to the fire annunciator panel where available.
  • access security key-box, taking needed keys and leaving other keys with a trustworthy person (app. Driver)
  • establish a Lobby Sector
  • deliver an initial message to tenants/occupants, where lobby voice controls are available
  • secure elevators to the ground floor, where controls are available
  • assign an elevator operator, who may double as the Entry Control Person during initial operations
  • bring a high-rise kit for potential operations
  • where fire is suspected, the driver closest to the standpipe/sprinkler connection should connect dry lines from the apparatus the theses connections. Then await direction from the IC to charge the lines.
