At an incident to communicate urgent info or make an urgent request.
Example - critical fire conditions, concern for potential collapse, loss of water supply, etc.

How is the Emergency Traffic message initiated?

Personnel shall initiate the message by requesting an Emergency Alert Tone activation from Fire Control.

The Communication Operator.

After completion of the tone, the initiator shall:

• Declare, “Urgent, Urgent, Urgent”
• Announce to whom the message is directed, i.e. “All personnel….”
• Clearly state the Urgent message

Who acknowledges the message?

All sector Officers to whom the message was directed shall acknowledge the message.

What happens if the IC does not hear acknowledgment from all sectors?

If the IC does not hear acknowledgement from all sectors or has difficulty delivering the emergency traffic message, the IC can have Fire Control deliver the message.
