What is the purpose of the SOG ICS-Sectoring?
To establish a standard system of dividing emergency command into smaller, more manageable areas.
What does the establishment of effective sectors allow the IC to do?
To concentrate on overall strategy, attack plan management and resource allocation. Sectoring can assist the IC by maintaining an acceptable span of control, approx. 5-6 sectors
When will sectoring be implemented?
At the discretion of the IC.
Who operates the sectors?
Sectors are to be operated at the tactical level by the on-scene Captains, who will receive their assignments from the IC.
Sectors will be assigned according to what?(list 3)
- Function(fire,rescue)
- Geographical position (north,south)
and/or - by other factors implemented by the IC
Sectors will be assigned in accordance with ________, _______, _________ and __________.
- the complexity of the event
- the amount of workload
- the number of apparatus
- manpower assigned
Explain the responsibility of a Sector Officer.
Each sector will have a Sector Officer, who will be the liaison between the IC and the sector. Other Captains assigned to work in the sector will work through the established Sector officer.

Communicate on a Face-to-Face basis, this will help eliminate radio traffic.
