Medscape:
Narcotic agonist-analgesic of opiate receptors; inhibits ascending pain pathways, thus altering response to pain; produces analgesia, respiratory depression, and sedation; suppresses cough by acting centrally in medulla

Immediate via IV

Capital:
Moderate to severe pain
Morphine Contraindications
CT Protocols:
Allergy, BP < 100 mmHg, Patient with non-opioid directive

Hypersensitivity, Respiratory depression
Morphine Side Effects/ Precautions/ Comments
Capital:
Respiratory depression, Confusion, Sedation, Bradycardia, Hypotension, Nausea/vomiting, Tachycardia, Syncope
Morphine Adult Dose
CT Protocols:
0.1 mg/kg IV/IO/IM slow, (single max dose of 10 mg); May repeat every 5 minutes to a total of 20 mg, titrated to pain relief and if systolic BP is >100 mmHg.

0.1 mg/kg IV/IO/IM
