Designnated officer- are

designated Officer- 3 types of unprotected exposure
- tissue under skin (ie bite skin broken)
- body fluid contact with non-intact skin (cut, chapped, or abraded skin
- Body fluid in contact with mucous membrane (eyes, nose, mouth, lungs)

designated officer- significant exposure
any unprotected exposure with an agent that may cause illness or disease (needle stick, non intact skin, mucous membranes, failure of protective equipment)

Designated officer- High Risk Source (8)
- IV drug/alcohol abuser
- homeless population
- recent international travel
- Sex worker
- Source had blood transfusion blood product, or organ transplant between 1978-1985
- Current or recent imprisonment
- Infants born to HIV infected women
- Recent exposure to HIV, Hepatitis, TB, Coronavirus and any contagious respiratory illness
SOG 8-08 Designated Officer
Designated Officer- All personnel shall
- report a possible unprotected exposure to their immediate supervisor
- seek immediate medical care if required
- complete a workplace injury/illness report

designated officer, the immediate supervisor shall notify
an on duty designated officer as soon as possible when an unprotected exposure occurs

designated officer- the DC shall coordinate
transportation of affected personnel who may need medical care
