-SOG 6-09 SCBA- Cleaning-

Using universal protection Cleaning SBCA steps (9)

A
  • Remove SCBA from service
  • Remove air cylinder
  • install plastic cap onto air cylinder threads and wash cylinder with clean soapy water
  • rinse with clean water
  • Dry cylinder with clean clothes
  • wipe down pack harness straps, frame, airlines and pressure reducers with soapy water
  • rinse
  • wipe down with complete SBCA assembly with clean dry clothes
  • check SCBA for any damage as per “cylinder fill checksheet

Cleaning Mask mounted regulator

A
  • using quick connect remove regulator and face piece
  • remove regulator from the face piece mask
  • remove any obvious dirt from the external surfaces with warm soapy water
  • inspect inner surface of regulator assembly through regulator opening
  • depressed donning / air saver switch, close Purge knob
  • disinfect/ sanitize be spraying minimum 6 full pumps of disinfectant into opening
  • turn regulator face down and shake excess liquid out allow 10 min contact time before rinsing
  • rinse regulator with gently running tap water
  • shake excess water out
  • let dry

Perform regulator check

A
  • make sure no moisture remains in air cylinder by opening valve and allowing air to escape for 2 or 3 seconds
  • install cylinder onto clean SCBA
  • install regulator at quick connect
  • verify that the donning/air saver switch is fully depressed
  • close Purge knob
  • slowly open cylinder at least one full turn
  • open Purge valve and observe the air flow from the regulator ensure dry

Cleaning SCOTT SCBA face piece

A
  • disinfect/sanitize the face piece by spraying 3 full pumps of properly diluted disinfectant on the regulator side of the mask and 3 full pumps on the face side of the mask. wet entire surface, including all rubber and plastic areas, allow 10 minutes contact time before rinsing
  • rinse with clean drinking water
  • shake excess water off of facepiece and dry with clean soft cloth
  • drying time can be accelerated using blow dryer on no heat high fan
  • completely inspect all pieces before re assemling
  • reinstall face piece on serviced SCBA and complete daily operational checks
  • return to service
