The Zone (0) switch is located below the group selector and is used
to toggle between the system repeater channels and the associated talk around frequency

The ABC switch is used to allow the portable, when selected to a given talk group, to
scan the talkaround frequency associates with the talk group, scan is enabled in both positions A and B and is turned off in position C

The Orange “emergency button”
- When pressed an emergency alert will sound in comm and unit ID of the radio initiating emergency will be highlighted
- the radio will get 10 seconds open mike
- the talk group will have system wide priority for 90 sec
- if no voice heard dispatcher will notify IC
- does not work in talk around

Audible sounds- while pressing the transmit button the portable will produce one of two sounds (2)
- Talk permit tone- short chirp showing that contact with transmitter site
- Bonk tone- system busy, out of range, system down

Fail soft
all mississauga frequencies work on one and all brampton on another radio will beep every 10 seconds

Lost or Stolen portable, in the event a portable is lost or stolen
the officer should notify BFES division chief as soon as possible
