Steal Someone’s Thunder
Dessa forma, Steal someone’s thunder quer dizer “roubar a cena de alguém”, levar crédito por algo que outra pessoa fez, ou ainda, fazer algo antes de outra pessoa fazer (geralmente implicando que essa pessoa planejava fazer a mesma coisa), tomando a atenção e os elogios que seriam dados a ela.
O executivo sempre rouba a cena do seu colega usando as ideias dele.
The businessman always steals his partner’s thunder by using his ideas.

Ela significa essencialmente, ter um prospecto/chance/possibilidade de vitória ou sucesso em algo, ou de sobrevivência numa determinada situação.

Be Bound To
1 – Um sujeito pode usar essa expressão para dizer que tem certeza que algo irá acontecer, que em sua visão algo está destinado a ocorrer.
2 – A expressão também é usada para expressar que um sujeito é obrigado ou se sente obrigado a fazer algo. Seja por princípios éticos que ele segue, pela lei, ou pelas circunstâncias em que ele se encontra.
Existe outra variação onde se diz honor-bound, que é um adjetivo composto. O sentido é o mesmo já mencionado: uma obrigação por princípios de honradez e honestidade que o indivíduo possui.
Conhecendo o Jim, ele certamente se atrasará.
Knowing Jim, he’s bound to be late.
Se você tem problemas em casa, isso certamente afetará seu trabalho.

1 – O primeiro sentido de knock yourself out, não tem nada a ver com sua tradução literal, que seria “bata-se para fora”. O sentido transmitido aqui é o de “fique à vontade”, “sinta-se livre para fazer (algo mencionado previamente)”, “vá em frente”.
2 – O segundo significado já tem mais a ver com a palavra knock (que pode significar “bater”). Nesse caso, knock yourself out significa “ficar inconsciente” ou “desmaiar”.
Existe ainda uma nuance desse sentido que estamos vendo. É quando você propositalmente se esforça muito e esgota suas energias (ao invés de apenas passivamente desmaiar ou perder a consciência). Nesse caso, traduziremos knock yourself out como “exaurir-se” ou “esgotar-se”.

“Por Sorte”
As luck would have it transmite, de uma maneira mais geral, o sentido de “como quis o acaso/sorte/azar”, “como acabou acontecendo”, “da maneira que os eventos se desenrolaram”.
Como quis o acaso, nós tivemos um pneu furado.

Por sorte, o cheque chegou no e-mail hoje.

1 – Primeiro, exemplos de high and dry quando significa “desamparado”, “em dificuldades”, “sem recursos”.
2 – Os próximos exemplos são daquele uso mais literal de high and dry, onde significa “seco”, “protegido”, “intacto”.
Aqui estou desamparado — sem comida, sem dinheiro, sem nada.

Assim como “faça chuva ou faça sol”, come hell or high water é uma antítese (figura de estilo que consiste na exposição de ideias opostas). Ambas tem o sentido de “não importam as possíveis dificuldades, não importa o que aconteça”.
