What is a Wilm’s tumour and what is its peak age off presentation?
A
- Nephroblastoma - embryonal tumour of the kidney
2. 1 to 3 years of age

What are the clinical features of a Wilm’s tumour?
A
- Asymptomatic abdominal mass
- Abdominal distension
- Haematuria, fever, and hypertension

How is a Wilm’s tumour diagnosed?
A
- Any child with an abdominal mass - USS
- CT/MRI to further stage the disease
- Transcutaneous histological biopsy for diagnosis

What is the management for a Wilm’s tumour?
A
- Nephrectomy 1st line 4 unilateral tumours followed by chemotherapy
- Bilateral - chemotherapy then excision of masses to preserve function

What is the prognosis of a Wilm’s tumour?
A
85% 5-year survival
