What are the indications for a CT head?
A
- LoC >5 mins
- Amnesia >5 mins
- clinical suspicion of non accidental injury
- three or more discrete episodes of vomiting
- dangerous mechanism of injury
- post-traumatic seizure
- GCS below 14 on arrival or below 15 if under 1-year old
- GCS under 15 2 hours after injury
- abnormal drowsiness
- swelling or laceration >5cm on head in under 1-year old
- focal neurological deficit
- basal skull fracture

What are the signs of a basal skull fracture?
A
Raccoon eyes, postauricular bruising, CSF leak from nose or ear.

What are the management of a head injury in a child?
A
- ABCDE
- safety net for signs of raised ICP
- promote head injury prevention
