What are the different methods of detecting fire via Fire Detection System?
- Smoke (particle detection, ionization)
- Flame (spectrum of light, Photoelectric cells)
- Heat Detectors (RTDs)
- Incipient (filtered particles measured by laser, Fit test)
What type of Panel will recieve input from a fire outside the Power Block?
Fire from inside the Power Block?
- DGP (data gathering panel)
- PFAC :
- 4, U-1 fire detectors inside pwr block
- 5, U-2 fire detectors inside pwr block
- 2 & 3 to main annunciator system
- 1 & 2, fire protection equip inside pwr block
How does the Incipient Fire Detection system work?
- various process streams take suction on various areas (electrical panels)
- process streams filtered to remove dust (stop spurious alarms)
- precombustion particles come in contact with satruated atmosphere and coalese together
- laser detects particles and alarms operators that a fire is present or will be present in future
- if Fire Alarm Trouble (Pre-fire alarm) a sensitive “sniffer”, the PRO Locator is used to find source of precombustions particles
If a seismic event occurs >0.02g in magnitude what must be done?
Why?
Must enter CNMT to check for fires and perform an engineering evaluation on the fire detection components w/in 2 hrs
the Fire Detetion system is not seismically rated, fire doors rated for 2 hrs
How do you know what fire detector is in alarm when looking at it locally?
What component recieves inputs from the individual fire detectors? (and provides power)
What component recieves inputs from fire protection equipment?
What component recieves input from plant and displays it in the control room?
a red LED light will be illuminated on detector
