Glomerulonephritis interventions:
A
To assess fluid balance, monitor BP; record intake and output; and obtain daily weights at the same time, on the same scale, with the client wearing the same clothes.

Nephrotic syndrome:
A
Massive proteinuria
(frothy urine) and severe edema are key findings
of nephrotic syndrome.

Prevent infection:
A
Clients with nephrotic
syndrome are at increased risk for infection.
Report signs of infection (sore throat, fever) and
teach parents that the child should avoid contact
with sick children.

Nephroblastoma:
A
Nephroblastoma is a
nontender abdominal mass located deep in
the flank. Avoid palpating the mass and place
a sign in the room that says, “Do not palpate
abdomen.”
