Tumor lysis syndrome:

A

For clients receiving
chemotherapy, monitor electrolytes to
detect tumor lysis syndrome (hyperkalemia,
hyperuricemia, hyperphosphatemia, and
hypocalcemia). If tumor lysis syndrome occurs,
correct electrolyte imbalances with IV fluids and
diuretics and administer allopurinol to decrease
uric acid.
