wilcoxon non para Flashcards
why use wilcoxon?
-difference in scores
-repeated measures
-ordinal data
example of alternative hypothesis
“there is a difference in young offenders scores on anger questionnaire before and after treatment” non directional, two tailed
example of null hypothesis
“there is no difference in young offenders scores on amber questionnaire before and after treatment “
what is step 1 calc a difference and rank the difference
ranking is done on difference between two sets
-when ranking the sings are ignored
-if the difference is zero the data js not included in ranking and deducted from the N value
what is step 2 working out the value of T
-the calculated T value is the sum of less frequent signs
- so add up sum of the less frequent sign ranks
what is step 3? the calculated and critical values
-calculated value of T is 9
-calculate the critical value of T ( look at 0.05, two or one tailed
-if calculated value is more than the critical value then it’s not significant
- accept null hypothesis
