What is the role of the renal artery
To supply blood to the kidney. The right artery supplies blood the to right kidney, whilst the left sends blood to the left kidney
What is the role of the renal vein?
Carries deoxygenated blood from the kidney to the inferior vena cava in the heart
What is the role of the cortex?
Is where nephrons begin. Each kidney has 1mill nephrons
What is the role of the medulla?
Regulates concentration of the urine
What is the role of the calyx?
Tehy are cavities that urine collects before it flows on into the urinary bladder
What is the role of the ureter?
Carries the urine from the kidney to the bladder
What is the role of the urethra?
Allows urine to exit the body during urination
What is the role of the bladder?
It stores urine until it flows out of the body
What is the role of the kidney nephron?
To filter blood and and create urine
