What is asthma?
A lung disease causing inflammatoin and tightnening of muscles around airways, making it difficult to breathe
What factors cause asthma?
They have inflammed abd sensitive airways to become norrow and clogged due to:
* Pollen
* Infections
* Mold/Damp
* Exercise
* Allergies
What are the symptoms of asthma?
- Wheezing
- Breathlessness
- A tight chest
- Asthma attacks
What are some lifestyle changes of asthma?
- Regular medication
- Stop smoking
- Exercise regularly
- Healthy eating
- Sleep
What are some lifestyle effects of asthma?
- Affects amount of exercise one can do
- Exercise is okay with inhalers and monitoring
What is cystic fibrosis?
An inherited conditon that causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive system and other organs.
What factors cause cystic fibrosis?
Caused by a faulty gene. It affects the movement of salt & water in and out of cells. This and recurrent infections results in thick sticky mucus in body tubes and passageway.
What are the symptoms of cystic fibrosis?
- Recurring chest infections
- Diffifulty putting on weight
- Wet sounding coughs
- Diaarrhoea
- Occasional wheezing, shortness of breath
What are the lifestyle changes of cystic fibrosis?
- Regular medication
- Stop smoking
- Exercise- monitored
- Vaccinated

What is the prognosis of cystic fibrosis?
- Its progressive and tends to get worse over time
- Eventually can be fatal and lead to serious infection of lungs not working
What is emphysema?
A condition in the air sacs of the lungs are damaged and enlarged causing shortness of the breathe.
What factors cause emphysema?
Associated with long-term exposure to harmful substances
* Smoking
* Fumes/dust
* Air pollution
* Genetics
What are the symptoms of emphysema?
- Increasing breathlessness
- Persistant chesty cough
- Frequent chest infections
- Wheezing
What are some lifestyle changes of emphysema?
- Regular medication
