- rises to close nasopharynx when swallowing

What type of muscle is the tongue?

- projections of mucosa called papillae

- Parotid
- Submandibular
- Sublingual
Where is the parotid salivary gland?
Inferior and anterior to ears
what is mumps?
Inflammation of one or both parotids
where is the submandibular salivary gland?
- floor of mouth
where is the sublingual salivary gland?
Below tongue on floor of mouth

0.5% solute ie. enzymes
