What is meta ethics?
A form of ethics concerning the meaning of ethical term, the nature of moral statements and the foundations of moral principles
What is moral realism?
Sees moral values as objective facts that are in the world, assumes thing are good or bad independently of human beings’ perception or feeling about them. Moral realism understands moral qualities such as real properties; weight size
What is cognitive?
Thinking/mental processes relating to knowledge, reasoning. These statements have a truth value, capable of having a truth value
What is moral antirealism?
Believe there is no morality, they think morality isn’t a body of knowledge of the world more likely as subjective that tell us about peoples minds of the wotld rather than anything material of the world
What is epistemology?
The study of knowledge, what knowledge is and how it can be known
What is non-cognitive?
Personal, meaningless as it is neither true or false. Can’t be known. Certain language does not express proportions which can eb held true/false
What is a proposition?
Capable of being true or false, asserted or denied.
What is verification?
Checking the truth of a statement using empirical means
What is falficiation?
Checking the falsity of a statement using empirical means
What is empirical?
Knowledge gained through the senses
what is cognitivism?
Morality is factual, an be true or false/ Stealing is wrong, view about ethical language propositions of the world
What is ethical non-cognitivism?
When someones makes a judgement they are expressing their feelings, not describing the world or a state of fact, subjective not propositions of the world that can eb true or false.
What is ethical naturalism?
Can be understood by analysing the natural word, there ate objective moral properties and that is moral statements they are empirical, form of ethical cognitivism Using pleasure/pain
